Accident Report Requests
Wood County Sheriff's Department accident reports are available at CRASHDOCS, powered by CARFAX.
There is a fee for this service.

Open records requests can be made by e-mailing the Sheriff's Office or in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 4:00 p.m.

Typical requests include accident reports, incident reports, individual contact records, photographs, audiotapes, CD’s and
DVD’s. Records can be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office or mailed to the requestor.
According to State Statute, reproduction fees and expenses are limited to the actual necessary and direct cost of reproduction.
As requests for small amounts of reproduced records may require more expense preparing the bills than for reproduction expenses,
the following guidelines will be used.
- Reproduction expenses are as follows:
- Accident Reports: $0.25 per reproduced page if over ten pages
- Photographs, normal size: $1.00 each
- All records will be charged at the rate of $0.25 per reproduced page.
- The actual cost to the department of reproducing tapes or other media used for production shall also be paid by the person
making the request.
- The department may request prepayment of fees if the total exceeds $5.00.
Reproduced records will be delivered to the requestor either in person or by
using the US Mail Service. Under normal and usual circumstances, reproduced
records will not be delivered to the requestor by using a fax machine.
Juvenile records, reports concerning pending or on-going cases, cases that have not been disposed of in court (ie.,cases
that
may require a motion of discovery to the District Attorney's Office), or records of a sensitive nature may not be able to
be released in whole or in part.
Accident reports will be released in accordance to the Driver's Privacy Protection Act 18 U.S.C. 2721
